High Speed Quantile Based Histogram Equalization

چکیده
8 In this paper we introduce a new histogram equalization based contrast enhancement method called High Speed Quantile Based Histogram Equalization (HSQHE) suitable for high contrast digital images. The proposed method is an effective tool to deal with the “mean-shift” problem, which is a usual problem with the histogram equalization based contrast enhancement methods. The main idea of HSQHE is to divide input image histogram into two or more sub-histograms, where segmentation is based on quantile values. Since the histogram segmentation is based on the quantile values, the entire spectrum of gray level will always play an important role in enhancement process. Also the proposed method does not require the recursive segmentation of the histogram as in many other methods, and hence proposed method requires less time for segmentation. The experimental results show that the performance of proposed HSQHE method is better as compared to other existing methods available in literature. Also this method preserves image brightness more accurately than the prevailing state of art and takes less time as compared to the other methods.

Evaluation of Quantile Based Histogram Equalization in Combination with Different Root Functions
This paper presents an evaluation of the RWTH large vocabulary speech recognition system on the Aurora 4 noisy Wall Street Journal database. First, the influence of different root functions replacing the logarithm in the feature extraction is studied. Then quantile based histogram equalization is applied, a parametric method to increase the noise robustness by reducing the mismatch between the ...
متن کاملCombining neighboring filter channels to improve quantile based histogram equalization
A mismatch between the training data and the test condition of an automatic speech recognition system usually deteriorates the recognition performance. Quantile based histogram equalization can increase the system’s robustness by approximating the cumulative density function of the current signal and then reducing an eventual mismatch based on this estimate. In a first step each output of the m...
متن کاملDensity-Based Histogram Partitioning and Local Equalization for Contrast Enhancement of Images
Histogram Equalization technique is one of the basic methods in image contrast enhancement. Using this method, in the case of images with uniform gray levels (with narrow histogram), causes loss of image detail and the natural look of the image. To overcome this problem and to have a better image contrast enhancement, a new two-step method was proposed. In the first step, the image histogram is...
متن کاملA Comparative Study of Histogram Equalization (HEQ) for Robust Speech Recognition
The performance of current automatic speech recognition (ASR) systems often deteriorates radically when the input speech is corrupted by various kinds of noise sources. Quite a few techniques have been proposed to improve ASR robustness over the past several years. Histogram equalization (HEQ) is one of the most efficient techniques that have been used to reduce the mismatch between training an...
متن کاملContinuous Quantile Query Processing in Wireless Sensor Networks
A major concern when processing queries within a wireless sensor network is to minimize the energy consumption of the network nodes, thus extending the networks lifetime. One way to achieve this is by minimizing the amount of communication required to answer queries. In this paper we investigate exact continuous quantile queries, focusing on the particular case of the median query. Many recentl...
